Don’t overcomplicate it….

If you’re heading into 2026 thinking “this is the year I finally sort out my marketing”, here’s your reminder to start small and focus on what actually matters.

Before you jump into tactics, think about these 5 things:

  1. Know who you’re talking to

If you’re not clear on your audience, everything else becomes harder. Don’t guess - ask. A simple survey can help you understand:

  • who they are

  • what they need

  • what’s getting in their way

2. Be clear on your story and key messages

Once you know who you’re talking to, you need to know what you’re saying.

  • What do you want to be known for?

  • What problems do you solve?

  • What do you want people to remember about you?

3. You can’t be everywhere

You don’t need to be everywhere. Focus on the channels that make sense for your audience — and for your capacity.

4. Create a marketing calendar

This isn’t just about posts. A simple calendar helps you plan:

  • social and email activity

  • price promotions and offers

  • key diary dates

  • campaigns and product launches

It gives you structure and stops everything feeling reactive.

5. Build and nurture your email list

New customers are hard to come by. Your existing customers are your biggest advocates - so keep them close.

  • set up an email list

  • add a clear sign-up form to your website

  • share it regularly on social

Good marketing really comes down to:

  • who you’re talking to

  • what you’re saying

  • where you’re saying it

Not more noise - just more clarity.
